Please join the Intermountain Chapter, NRHS for our fall color excursion on the
Leadville Train on September 11, 2024. Our ARROW chartered bus will depart
our usual 3 pickup locations and head to Leadville via Vail Pass and US 24 so we
can view portions of the mothballed Tennessee Pass railroad alignment. We’ll
return via SH 91 over Fremont Pass, once the routing of the Denver, South Park &
Pacific narrow gauge, later the Colorado & Southern. We’ll ride the standard-
gauged part of that historic line between Leadville and the Climax Mine complex.
We have selected a weekday for our trip to avoid heavy weekend traffic and to
better enjoy our dining and train ride experiences in Leadville. Our loading locations
may vary slightly within the RTD park and ride stops - just look for the large ARROW
motor coach. We must avoid interfering with RTD’s peak hour bus operations.
7:45 AM Depart RTD Thornton Park 'n Ride (EAST SIDE ONLY - NB I-25 side)
8:00 AM Depart Denver Union Station - in front of station on Wynkoop St.
8:30 AM Depart RTD Mineral Park ’n Ride - Santa Fe Dr. & Mineral Ave.
11:30 AM Arrive Leadville, historic Delaware Hotel, “Mineral 1886” restaurant
Lunch by individual settlement. Check menu options online.
1:15 PM Depart for Leadville train station, just blocks away
2:00 PM Train departs Leadville station
4:30 PM Train arrives Leadville station
4:45 PM Bus departs Leadville station
6:30 - 7:00 PM Bus arrives at pick up locations (approximate times)
Bus and train fare is @ $79 for current Chapter members and @ $99 for non-members.
