Brief History of No. 5629

Chicago, Burlington & Quincy “Burlington Route” No. 5629 is a 4-8-4 Northern was a part of a new class of steam locomotives built for CB&Q’s fast freight and passenger service across the Great Plains. The locomotive was built in West Burlington, Iowa in 1940 and was a member of a class of 15 locomotives for the CB&Q.

The engine was presented to the Colorado Railroad Museum in 1963 after being stored in Lincoln, Nebraska and used as an auxiliary boiler for the Lincoln Depot.
